Cristina's Reflection On The Billericay Stride 10k Charity Run
Stepping out of my comfort zone to take part in the Billericay Stride 10K Charity Run was about so much more than crossing the finish line. It was an opportunity to lead by example, support a wonderful cause, and show that with determination and encouragement, we are all capable of achieving more than we think.

As Home Manager at Old Shenfield Place Care Home, I feel incredibly proud to represent our amazing residents, dedicated team, supportive families, and our local community. This year was even more special as Old Shenfield Place Care Home was proud to be one of the sponsors of this fantastic event. We strongly believe in supporting our local community while promoting health, wellbeing, and teamwork, and it was a privilege to be part of such an inspiring day.

The 10K challenged me both physically and mentally, but it also reinforced something I really believe, leadership is about inspiring others, embracing challenges, and showing that it’s okay to step outside your comfort zone. I hope my journey encourages others to believe in themselves, take on new challenges, and never underestimate what they can achieve.

One of the highlights of the day was having Hannah join me for the race. Sharing the experience made it even more memorable. We were also incredibly proud of our Old Shenfield Place Hydration Station, which was enthusiastically manned by our amazing residents and team. It was a welcome and refreshing stop for everyone taking part
Seeing so many people come together with enthusiasm, kindness, and community spirit reminded me that the greatest achievements happen when we support one another. A huge thank you to everyone who cheered, donated, volunteered, and took part. Together we didn’t just raise money for charity, we celebrated resilience, compassion, teamwork, and the power of community.

At Old Shenfield Place Care Home, we are passionate about creating opportunities that bring people together, promote wellbeing, and make a positive difference both within our home and across our local community. We look forward to supporting many more wonderful community events in the future.
