Our ethos
About Cristina…
I would like to personally welcome you to our beautiful 17th century care home nestled away in the historic village of Shenfield, just a stone’s throw from Brentwood.
At Old Shenfield Place, we don’t just provide a service but a place of warmth, comfort and support and ultimately, a home.
Our staff work tirelessly to ensure our home is a safe haven for the people who live here. We have a special interest in supporting people with all levels of dementia to live full lives, but are also able to care for people without any memory impairment.
We prioritise our residents’ dignity and autonomy, and provide bespoke care for everyone who lives here.
Cristina, Home Manager
Family-focused
At our Brentwood care home, we believe in fostering a family-oriented environment where open communication and close relationships can flourish. Family involvement shapes the lives of our residents and we offer flexible support to ensure that family members always feel involved and valued at every stage.
Whether through regular visits, phone calls, emails or WhatsApp, we communicate with you to keep you updated on your loved one’s well-being. With monthly resident meetings and a suggestion box, we consistently encourage feedback and collaboration to enhance and improve the overall quality of our care, creating a warm, supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
Quality of Care
Exceptional care is our top priority. Our employees undergo rigorous selection and extensive training in evidence-based assistive techniques to hone their bedside manner and clinical skills. From degree-level professionals to those with NVQs, our award-winning team continuously advances their expertise through ongoing training programs, including specialised dementia care and palliative support.
Our care home in Brentwood strongly focuses on personal relationships and a genuine passion for making residents smile. We ensure every resident receives a personal care plan to meet all social, medical and diet needs. We want residents to feel right at home, so they are free to bring any furniture to Old Shenfield Place and can decorate rooms to suit their style, making it as comfortable as possible.
We believe in building personal relationships and making every resident feel valued. Our low staff turnover means familiar, friendly faces and a consistent, welcoming environment where individual needs are always met with care and attention.
Activities and Social Engagement
We have built a vibrant community for all our residents. Whether it’s group activities or quiet time alone, we can support and respect all social needs. We take the time to understand what makes each person happy, from enjoying a peaceful walk by our koi pond to spending time in our sensory garden or joining in with daily activities like arts and crafts or gentle exercise classes.
We promote inclusivity by encouraging those with dementia to participate in daily activities alongside all other residents. By listening to residents and discovering their unique ‘Magic Moments‘, we ensure that every day brings something meaningful and enjoyable. We aim to create a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel valued and look forward to each new day.
Facility cleanliness and safety
Our Brentwood care home maintains strict cleanliness standards and regular safety checks to ensure a secure, comfortable environment that feels like home. Every communal area in Old Shenfield Place is easy to access, and risk assessments are carried out regularly, including alarmed doors so that residents are safe without compromising independence.
Our care staff, including qualified nurses and visiting healthcare professionals, work together to create a homely and pleasant space. Our commitment to creating an environment where residents can thrive and families can trust us with their loved one’s care.
