October 2026

Premium Care Group is delighted to announce that its Head of Marketing, Kate Wyatt, has been recognised as Channel 5 News’ ‘Hero of the Week’, celebrating the extraordinary difference she makes to her local community in Pulborough, West Sussex.

The special news feature, broadcast on Thursday 15th October 2026, celebrated Kate’s commitment to supporting older people, tackling loneliness and bringing the community together through meaningful friendships, volunteering and intergenerational initiatives.

Premium Care Group owns and operates ten care homes across Surrey, Sussex, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Essex, providing high-quality residential, nursing and dementia care. With community engagement at the heart of its approach, the group is passionate about creating meaningful connections between residents and their local communities, working closely with schools, charities and community organisations to enrich the lives of older people.

The Channel 5 News team visited The Anchorage Care Home in Pulborough, one of Premium Care Group’s ten homes, to capture this special occasion and meet some of the wonderful people and organisations involved in Kate’s community work.

Among those attending was Mrs Sam Copus, Headteacher of St Mary’s C of E Primary School, accompanied by children involved in ‘Through the Eyes of a Child’ programme, an inspiring intergenerational imitative founded by Kate’s 11year-old daughter, Daisy Bell.

The programme encourages children to build meaningful friendships with older people through regular visits, shared activities and spending quality time together.

The children visit The Anchorage regularly and have become a much-loved part of life at the home. Always welcomed with open arms by residents, their visits bring laughter, companionship and happiness, creating genuine friendships that make a remarkable difference to both generations. These special connections highlight just how important intergenerational relationships are in supporting wellbeing and reducing loneliness.

The celebration also welcomed Lynn Richards from the Pulborough & District Community Care Association (PDCCA), a local charity providing valuable support to older and vulnerable members of the community. Both Kate and Daisy are actively involved in the charity’s befriending programme, giving their time to offer friendship, companionship and support to people who may otherwise experience loneliness or isolation.

Also joining the occasion was Lynda Vowles from The Mary How Trust, a Pulborough-based charity dedicated to promoting health and wellbeing through preventative health screenings and community support. Premium Care Group works closely with the Trust, with both organisations supporting one another’s initiatives and sharing a commitment to making a positive difference within the local community.

Kate’s dedication to community engagement extends far beyond her professional role. Her passion for connecting people, supporting local charities and encouraging others to get involved has helped strengthen relationships across Pulborough and the surrounding area.

Speaking about the recognition, Kate Wyatt said:

“I feel incredibly honoured to receive this recognition. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful community in Pulborough, with so many people working together to make a difference.

It was particularly special to share the occasion with Daisy, the children from St Mary’s Primary School and our fantastic community partners. Seeing the friendships and happiness these connections bring to older people is what makes it all so worthwhile.

A special thank you to Alice for nominating me. It really was such a lovely surprise”

For Premium Care Group, Kate’s recognition reflects the organisation’s commitment to ensuring its care homes remain at the heart of their local communities, building meaningful relationships that extend far beyond the care home environment.

The recognition is not only a wonderful personal achievement for Kate but also a celebration of the kindness, generosity and community spirit that make Pulborough such a special place.
