Remembrance Day Honouring The Past - Old Shenfield Place

As Remembrance Day approaches, all of us at Old Shenfield Place are preparing to commemorate this significant occasion with the people from our community.

This day holds great importance for our residents, as it allows them to reflect on their own experiences and pay tribute to those who have served and sacrificed for our country. In addition, our residents will have the opportunity to actively participate in our local community by attending the Brentwood High Street parade on Sunday 12th November.

Remembering the past:

For our residents, Remembrance Day is a time to honour and remember the sacrifices made by people in service during times of conflict. Many of our residents have personal connections to these events, having lived through wars or having family members who served. This day allows them to reflect on their own experiences and share stories with others, fostering a sense of camaraderie and understanding within our care home.

Participating in the Brentwood high street parade:

Attending the Brentwood High Street parade is an exciting opportunity for our residents to actively engage with the local community. The parade, starting at Brentwood Town Hall at 10:35 am, will feature the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band marching down Middleton Hall Lane towards the war memorial on the junction with Shenfield Road. Our residents will have the chance to witness the laying of wreaths and join in a two-minute silence, paying their respects alongside fellow community members.

Strengthening community bonds:

By participating in the parade, our residents will feel like a part of the local community. This involvement not only allows them to pay tribute to fallen heroes but also fosters a sense of belonging and connection. The shared experience of honouring the past and showing respect for those who served creates a beautiful bond between our residents and the wider community.

Service at St Thomas Church:

Following the parade, a service will be held at St Thomas Church. Our residents have a chance to come together with others in prayer and reflection. It allows them to express their gratitude for the sacrifices made and to find solace in the collective remembrance of those who have served.

Remembrance Day holds deep significance for the residents at Old Shenfield Place. We are proud to support our residents in their involvement in this town event and look forward to the shared experience of remembrance and community spirit.
